Perfect little getaway. This was my second stay at this charming B&B on the coast. Splurge and get the second floor beach view suites, large and comfy with gorgeous views of the beach, pier and in the distance, Morro Rock. Located on the "Main Drag" the inn is situated in the best area for ease of shopping, dining and walking in the beach in the quaint coastal town of Cayucos.
My husband and I always seem to be breezing through on our way to a conference, but have decided with this trip that we definitely need to come back for a few days of r&r. Thanks to Katie, for helping us with our late, late check in and thanks to Maureen for the great breakfast.
Enjoyed two days at this adorable B&B in January 2016. The staff was very welcoming and so helpful.
The room we stayed in was huge and came with a cute balcony, jacuzzi tub and fire place. My only complaint was the bed was less than comfortable. By the second night my boyfriend was in pain and I did not sleep well. At this point I'd expect a higher price room to come with a quality mattress.
The dining accommodations at the hotel were very nice. Breakfast was always delicious. Similarly we very much enjoyed happy hour with wine and apps. And the staff was so sweet with all the meals. For the price...the food plus room is quite a steal.
Overall if I knew someone traveling to this area, I'd recommend this B&B. The location...literally on the beach...very nice!
This lovely bed and breakfast deserves five stars! I stayed here for a couple of nights and fell in love with Cayucos. I'm not sure if my visit would have been the same if I had stayed elsewhere.
I stayed in Room 1 with a partial ocean view. The room is located downstairs and yes, you can see the ocean. The BnB is located in a commercial district, so there is a small road, parked cars and a public restroom interfering with the view. Kind of a bummer, but I'm sure the views from upstairs are stellar. I stayed during the off season but I imagine it might get busier and noisier during the peak summer season or holidays, which is to be expected.
The room itself is grand and huge - four people could easily fit. There are two comfortable queen size beds with silky, cotton sheets. There's a television and a DVD player, a fireplace and a small table and chair. There is also a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot in the room (not tucked away in the bathroom.) The bathroom was big, clean and brightly lit. There's a jacuzzi in the bathroom. I tried the jets one night and avoided them the next. They were a little too noisy for me!
Besides the comfort of the beds and the convenient location, I loved the bed and breakfast vibe. I took this trip alone so I enjoyed talking to the employees at the front desk and the wonderful women who served breakfast and snacks during the day. You can easily find others to talk to in the community dining room or keep to yourself.
The food was delicious and plentiful. They serve continental breakfast in the morning if you want to grab something to go. I would recommend staying for the hot, freshly cooked breakfast. I had quiche one morning and blueberry pancakes the next. They also serve wine and appetizers at 5 pm and dessert at 8 pm. I really liked the convenience of having hot water and tea available 24/7 at the bar in the dining area. I visited in January and it was a perfect way to relax between activities.
Overall this place was amazing. I could tell that the employees worked hard between checking people in and preparing meals and snacks. They really go out of their way to make you feel like you're being taken care of without being pretentious or snobby. Cayucos is an awesome little beach town and you can spend hours looking for rocks or sea glass at the beach, hiking or shopping in their quaint downtown. It's also centrally located and close to The Hearst Castle, Cambria and SLO.
I was sad to leave, but I can't wait to come back!
I'd like to thank the staff of On the Beach Bed and Breakfast that made our experiences here truly great. This tiny little place is miles above anything you will find in Cambria, everything from the rooms, the food, the staff, the view and the overall experience is truly amazing.
You can pick the type of room you want, beach view or not and regardless of the room, they are all packed with all of the amenities you can think of at no extra cost.
I love coming to this little town of Cayucos because its so quiet and perfect for relaxing.
Do your self a favor and get away for the weekend to come and enjoy a stay at On the Beach Bed and Breakfast, you'll be glad you did!
My husband and I spent 2 nights here at the end of January. We stayed in room 1. The room was very spacious, clean and welcoming. The bed and linens were amazing. You can see the ocean from that room, but the best views are on the second floor.
Loved the nightly happy hour. Our hostess was Cynthia. She was very cheerful and accommodating. She served excellent appetizers and wine. Beer is also available. We did not have to go out for dinner either night due to the abundance of food. Dessert is also put out in the evening, but we did not partake of that. During the happy hour we met several guests who frequent the B&B.
The full breakfasts are also very tasty and of high quality. Maureen gets the credit for the breakfast we were served. She was another delightful employee and we were glad we got to meet her. We highly recommend On the Beach!
What a great spot! And yes, it is on the beach (though technically there are some parking spots between the bed & breakfast and the beach.
We stayed for one night in a room that had a small balcony that overlooked the beach. The room was huge and had a fireplace; it was an incredibly cozy spot and perhaps a bit romantic considering that it was a girls' getaway weekend. There was a large jacuzzi tub in the room and also a hot tub on premises (neither of which I used). Beds were also surprisingly incredibly comfortable.
The service and "amenities" (if you want to call them that) were great. The woman at the front desk was helpful in providing us with the lay of the land in Cayucos and also with all that the B&B had to offer. We partook in the happy hour which included pizza (!), local wine and beer. The wine was quite tasty (my first Roussanne). They also provide breakfast which consisted of vegetarian quiche (artichokes and goat cheese) and french toast along with continental breakfast, fruit salad and coffee and teas. The quiche was great and was made by the ladies at the hotel!
This is a precious gem of a place. First, let's chat about the rooms. Inviting and warm, with a relaxed beachy luxury, you're going to love all the thoughtful touches that are packed into this room. Deep jacuzzi tub! Balcony facing the ocean. Hidden, yet practical fridge. Robes. You may never want to leave.
Second, let's dish about the food. The social hour: wine pour weekends with savory bites to send you on your way out to dinner after checking in. Decadent dessert treats for a little nightcap before turning in. And the breakfasts: continental starts at 8 for those on the go and savory or sweet choices, after 9. (hint: you can get both choices). The bacon here is out of this world.
Last, but not least: the staff. They go beyond friendly and helpful. Want to know the best places, the local spots, where the action is? This staff can hook you up for any adventure you could ever want.
This place is special.
What a perfect place for a relaxing and romantic getaway. We came here for my husband's 55th birthday. We were looking for somewhere we had never been before and struck gold! The accommodations were exceptional. We had a room on the second floor with an ocean view, fireplace and jacuzzi tub (several rooms have this). Their afternoon appetizers and wine were good, dessert in the evening flavorful and breakfast delicious. Try the baked oatmeal! The staff was friendly and accommodating. They were knowledgeable of the area and able to recommend where to go for dinner. We had dinner the first night at Schooners just 2 doors down. We had lunch this morning just across the street at Duckies. Great fish and chips. Oh and my husband walked right into the old fashion barber shop right next door and got all spruced up. I can't wait to come back in the winter! I love the ocean, especially during a storm. We will be regulars here
We just spent 4 days in Cayucos and stayed at On The Beach B & B. The room had a fireplace, 2 queen beds, coffee in room, with a microwave and little refrig. It was very clean and they serve a full breakfast as well as, muffins, fruit and cereal and coffee before the prepared breakfast at 9am. The food was well prepared, and at 5pm they served appetizers and wine and beer, tea. Then we would run out to dinner and come back to desert served at 7:30pm. On the Beach goes the extra mile to make sure guest are comfortable and well fed. The location was just at the foot of the pier, across the street from Duckies Fish & Chips. Definitely worth the cost.
This was our fourth trip to On the Beach and our first time in the Honeymoon Suite (Room 204). It is definitely our favorite ocean front room on the 2nd floor and worth the higher price. As usual, everyone is friendly in the hotel and the rooms are clean. Happy Hour - great wine and beer selection as well as snacks. Breakfast is always yummy, hot, and with a unique twist. It's a great alternative to staying in Paso!
